Every day remind yourself to be CREATIVE, rather than competitive; CREATE, don’t compare. That is the life one who finds reward in the DOING. Every day.❤️
Ouch. I think this post just attacked me… It's hard to balance this as well, with "If I never move the goalposts, am I actually growing and moving forward?" Let me get back to you on those questions, after some time for contemplation and therapy to recover from it!
I like that thought about the goal posts and how we can lie to ourselves with that. I think the answer is, you kick the field goal, you celebrate, and then you make a NEW goal. Instead of always chasing something...yeah?
The way I felt this. Just sitting down after a full day of teaching elementary PE and there's both the "Is this it?" ache and the "Yeah, this is good (enough)." The exhaustion I feel is both evidence and currency of presence, I know what today was like, yet I will never fully know what today or any other day meant for my students. Impact can be very hard to track or even see. It requires time: seasons, years, decades and yet our actions matter deeply - all those things we do in the now, they leave traces. Thank you for providing a just-right nudge of encouragement at the beginning of a new school year.
Incredibly, I thought of you when I was writing this. I thought, Sherri is the perfect example of someone whose reach is so far, and so thoughtful, and she makes such a wonderful impact, even though she's not on The Daily Show. <3 But I know that how things appear on the outside do not always match up with how they feel on the inside. Love you.

I LOVE THIS. Creative, not create. Ahhhh stealing it, so sorry, I'll give you credit though.
